Third Quarter Draft

Image
This draft includes music produced by Michael Miller and it adds to the ominous mood of the scene. Also added in here is the CG"eyes"... I know you get the pun.

Alien: Covenant(Target Audience)

Alien: Covenant reaches audiences of all ages. It is such an iconic story and it has the longevity of nearly 30 years, by now. Alien is very mature and so I doubt that they market the movie for young children considering that the film is always rated R or near that. It has every aspect of a sci-fi film, but because of its popularity it is not necessarily a niche film. But from 17 to 60+ any person would love to watch Alien if they had any knowledge of it in the past.

Ex Machina (Target Audience)

Ex Machine really reaches out to niche sci-fi fans, that are from the ages of 17 to late 20's. It really does have a lot to do with the influence of technology on our lives. It has romance with a robot and it really seems like a passion project that has a very niche demographic. It doesn't reach to young viewers or old, because it's inappropriate and  it would seem quite ludicrous to older viewers, but the niche young viewers watched it and it had advertisements on Adult Swim for viewers of 14 to late 20's.

Third Quarter Correction

Image
Adding Special effects to the scene is a big must for the production, so I've added a preliminary visual for the soon to be corrected HUD eyes for Riot.

Movie Marketing Plan 2

Getting interviews for my actors and directors are a good way to promote the film, this way you can interact with your audience and communicate just enough to get them interested and to understand the film more so than if you simply watched a trailer. Then you release a special sneak peek of the film with this interview and share with your audience some free merchandise for being present at this marketing event.

Creative Critical Reflection: Integration of Technologies

How did you integrate technologies - software, hardware, and online - in the project? Wacom Cintiq 22HD (To my knowledge of its version)- Used Photoshop from my computer and connected them together to draw and add more detail on the poster to gain the full effect for the shadows and mystery. Laptop: Adobe Premiere Pro: Editing the film together and coloring it along with integration of the music into the project. Adobe After Effects: Title slide and using downloaded assets to give it a better effect. Made a HUD eye to put into Riot's eye in order to add to the sci-fi aspects of the film. I had to make a mask layer and learn how to track and parent the tracking date to a null layer, along with parenting my mask to the null eye though I went through and key framed by mask and ending up doing the same thing for the entire tracking process of the project Adobe Audition: Robot alteration of the voices of our two actors in the scene, but using some distortion effects. Adobe Phot...

Creative Critical Reflection: Production Skill Development

How did your production skills develop throughout this project? I have learned a great deal from working on this project along with the many others that I have been involved the last five months. After effects masking and working with multiple compositions in order to put a HUD eye on my character in the film. I got to experience mixing practical light with my final edit in post-production, which likely doesn't happen in run-in-gun filmmaking like in the film club. I got to work with a friend on music and he had it made for me to put into the project I worked with my digital art tablet and got more experience working on digital art for the posters and using Adobe Photoshop

Creative Critical Reflection: Engaging the Audience

How does your product engage with audiences and how would it be distributed as a real media text? The full-length film project would be more satirical on the subject of government and the addiction to technology that we have today than what is displayed in the opening scene. This would engage anyone who has criticisms about the government and, trust me, that's everyone. We would likely make protest style trailers and release a poster with a Blu-ray purchase of the film in the first two weeks of disk release. Adult Swim on Cartoon Network is good on supporting films with a niche audience that would be a good network to utilize to get an audience of teenagers and young adults to watch. Making pay-to-view releases on the same day as the actual release date, like on Vimeo, YouTube, Amazon, and the website that would be created for the film.

Creative Critical Reflection: Conventions and Representation of Social Groups & Issues

How does your product use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups and issues? (This response taken a previous post will be condensed for this post) We follow the story of a teenager who has lost his mother to gang violence and territorialism. The story is not per say about him, but it is about combating the flawed nature of the selfish, immoral, and overbearing gangsters of today, in contrast to the past, where people stood up for what they believed in, rather than being a part of a bandwagon.  You can think back to the riots during the reign of N.W.A. where they were protesting for their rights to speak freely about their daily lives in a country against African-Americans. Yes, there are popular gangs that you can strive to join for the glory and pride of being a part of that group, but what is it for? Keeping a name that is not positive in society for unjustifiable reasons is definitely madness. The killings that occur with psychopaths have happened w...

Marketing Plan 1 (Posters)

Image
A crucial aspect of marketing any film is to make your product seem like a spectacle, especially when it's sci-fi or action-packed. Our marketing plan includes releasing posters for the film, produced by my very own hands. Doing the posters tested my artistic skills of shading and concept designing on the fly, along with using digital drawing to produce a more crisp and market-ready poster. The posters show the audience the three main characters of the story and also introducing the mood of the story, being very noir and dark. Using art is a good way to attract all viewers; nobody wants to see something that they can't be interested in. A part of the art marketing would also include marketing to the CGI that is in the film. More live-action spectacle things always attract audiences.

Feedback & Possible Revisions

In January, we established that the audience would like to see more of a response from Riot to The Maker, simply to not leave a gap in the scene. In the script this is used creatively to characterize Riot as a silent-type male character, along with the fact that he is completely loyal to The Maker, so it's only given that he is ready for an important event that the pair is hosting. So, in light of our audiences wants we will add a head nod to skip dialogue and to a response. Many other corrections were not noted by the audience. There are some effects missing from the scene, along with fixing the altered audio that is in the present clip. Reducing the static and giving the scene more of an ambiance seems like the best approach to improving the scene.

Ghost in the Shell (Target Audience)

Ghost in the Shell's target audience was comprised of many people over the last two generations.
